ShaggyVolt12

I hooked up the wire to the 12+v constant to the yellow wire as shown on the picture and it blew the fuse immediately.  The 12+v ignition wire was hooked up to the RED / green wire as shown on the picture and it works fine.

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

The link below is the installation for the mirror.  It only has the homelink feature and not compass or temp sensor.

I did use a dmm to check the wires first.  The yellow was constant 12+v and the RED / green was +12v when the ignition switch was turned on.

Here is the link:  https://www.mitocorp.com/flash/instructions/nvs_autodimmingmirrors_instructions.htm

The wires from the mirror are a red wire labeled ignition and a yellow wire labeled battery.  Both of those wires have 5v fueses.

Thanks.

I am not totally certain but I think the red wire from the mirror controls the auto dim feature.

That is correct a black ground wire that I connected to the metal frame just below the fuse box.

BTW, I used the wiring harness provided by Mito for this mirror.

It has a green wire for hooking up a temp sensor which I do not have on the mirror.

ok take your constent 12+ wire to Yellow fuse it.

Take your Swithed wire to RED / Black or Gray / YELLOW this wire will test 12+ in the acc. postion while rotating the key will go to 0.00 while cranking then 12+ when in the run postion. just be sure to test these wires first.Dont forget to fuse this wire also.

your ground of course goes to a metel ground.

OK I will give that a try.

The wiring harness that came with the mirror has a 5a fuse on each wire.  The yellow battery wire and on the red ignition wire.

When I connected the red mirror wire to the RED / lt grn wire on the ignition harness, is this what cause the yellow wire fuse to blow?

Thanks again for your personal assistance with this matter!

Shaggy12Volt,

Can you see the egg on my face?

Before I changed the wiring from your original suggestion, I pulled the wiring harness to inspect.  Sure enough, when I tightened down the grab handle on the drivers side A pillar, I pinched the yellow battery wire which caused the short, which is why the fuses blew. DUUUUUHHHHH.

You were right on with your original recommendation.  This site should make you a SUPER Guru and not just standard member!

Again thanks for all of your assistance.
