New to diodes (i did read what is on the site). Can someone educate me on how diodes are typically used in auto wiring? I see on the site it references (1N4001, 1N4004, 1N4007) but i wouldn't know which guidelines or where to use them. For example I have power window switches that i am triggering relays via the ground wire. would a diode be used anywhere in this? just looking for ideas if anyone cares to share their go to uses for diodes

Are the window switches generating a pop into your audio system when you raise or lower the windows? If not, no need for diodes. If it does make a pop through your audio system when you release the switches, a diode across the coils of the relay will eliminate this pop.
