I am still using this baby, it is just really hard to read the text messages.  The display just shows a bunch of 0s and 1s.
Howie, how did you stumble upon this 9 month old post?

I'm dead work wise, worst 2 years I've ever known, so I started browsing, I have to do a 2011 Kia Sportage next week, Parrot Kit, no plugs for it and the amp is under the seat, think I'll just use a spare Nokia speaker and relay the switched amp lead from the H/U.
Forget text, it only had 15 memories, our version was Grey, they didn't have Alpha script till the 8500.
