i have a sound detector in my car that goes with the beat of the music, and i have 4 leds hooked in parelle, and yet most of the time the first LED in the series gets burnt out, causing the rest not to work, is maybe 3v too much for a LED?, i find that hard to believe. Any suggestions on what i should do would be great.

Thanks
    Chris

If the LEDs where wired parrallel then the other LEDs would still work if one burns out, it sounds like they are wired in series. What type of LEDs are you using? If possible is there a way that you can switch to 12V LEDs and convert you power supply to around 11V?

There's a resistor in series with the LEDs to limit the current. You can replace it with one with a bigger value or add another one to the string.
