I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX with a non-functioning dome light.  The dome light works in the ON mode and when the passenger's door is opened but not when the driver's door is opened.  The light on the dirver's door will light when the door is opened.  So the door switch must be working.  Is there a diode or relay between the door and the dome light that could have burned out?  Or it the dome light connection to the radio to blame?  I've already spent $75 at the dealer who was unable to isolate the problem.  I would appreciate any suggestions where to look before I spend any more time and money.

This diagram is from a 92 accord, but should be the same type of scheme as the 94 besides the wire colors and connnector #. There could be two problems you may have. One, the door trigger wire just before or after  the Integrated Control Unit (this is the module that has the warning buzzer in it) may have a break (wire might be cut or maybe a pin came out of connector). The way to tell if its before the ICU is to turn on your parking lights and open the door without the key in. If you hear a warning chime then the ICU may not  be the problem unless its the output side grn/blu wire but thats where a DMM will have to come in. If thats not it then Its a bad diode in the Gauge Assembly. I'm more towards a bad diode which is pretty easy to replace.

If the dealer could not figure out if it was the ICU or Diode in the Gauge assembly, then they need to get rid of the technician. Of course if they did find the problem it would cost you way more than $75 to replace the ICU or Gauge assemebly. Also deos the door indicator on the dash light up when the diver's door is open? If so then its the diode for sure.
