Rather than spending 60+ dollars of my hard earned money..is there a way I can make one?  I'm guessing just buy a hazard flash relay, open it up and switch out the capacitor or resistor in order to make the blinkers think a bulb's missing to make it blink faster or to make it blink slower.  The relay I'm trying to avoid buying is called the Run-About or Quik Flash [Auto Indulgence sells the Quik Flash...Lomita, CA company]....

This should work ....... experiment with different values .

larger caps and resistors  for longer flash  time .

But I'd like to make it variable...is there such a thing as a variable capacitor??

There are but for very small values . you can use a variable resistor call potentiometer. this should work.
