I need help removing the head unit in my 02 Impala. I know you have to take apart the dash to get to it but can not figure out how to do it. If any one has done it before or has any tips I would appreciate the help.
The new Impala's have the serial data cable as their wiring. There is no available information on these new systems except that they will be a headache to install an aftermarket CD player. Some of the OEM radios from GM are linked to other vehicle functions like airbag reset, door chimer, etc and if you remove the OEM radio you will no longer have these functions. If you go to the link below it will explain alot for you concerning this new system.

Other than this we have not had the pleasure to remove an OEM system from the 2002 Impala and hope we do not have to anytime soon either
. BTW: I heard that the data cable is built into the rear of the deck ( no wires ) the back of the deck fits into the harness that is built into the car , much like the old style removable decks in the early '90's where the deck comes out but the wiring and cage is left on the car. This goes for the antenna as well.

I already have the harness from best kits. The only problem is I can’t figure out how to get out the head unit. I don’t want to break anything and I don’t see any screws. I saw one taken apart a long time ago and know you have to get the dash off
