OK well guys here goes i have a 300 zx and i want to put components in the front doors.Now i want the 6.5 midrange in the factory location whit the tweeter sitting to the right of it .Now the pods that i will be using have a swivel cappabillity i will be facing them up towards the driver. Heres the question will the placement of the speakers in this car sound bad and how about the soundstage will it be good?I have had a few conflicts in the past and i want to know what anyone thinks thanks.

I installed components into a 1989 300 ZX Turbo and the imaging was fairly good ( not great ) but the limited amount of foot room in those cars + the fact that the factory speaker holes were only a 5 1/4 ". I mounted the tweeter and the woofer in the same configuration that you have in your post and I used a laser pointer to aim my speakers. Try to aim them so that the speakers would cross infront of your dash.

ok cool because people tell me that i should mount the tweeter higher but personally i dont thiuk they no much at all.If i mounted the tweetr away from the mid than the soundstage would be off by far thats why i mounted the tweeter next to the mid. This is in a 93 300 zx and i dont want to modify the panel much. i already had to modify the door because the original speakers had to come out.And in that year they had an amp housing built in so i had to cover the hole and make my 6.5 cutout.NOw i also have one more question are you familiar with the new alpine series components there highest end they make? if so do you know about the crossovers that come whith it ?
what make for excellent sound stage is the distance between the speaker and your self.so if you were to measure the distance from passanger sidespaeker to your ear and the distance from driver side speaker and your ear, you'll find a measurable differencewhat you want is to get them (the distances ) relative ly the same. so what i suggest is radical but it works. put them in front of the seat facing upwards and towards the glass. (first of all you'll never lick them ) so that they are aimed between your legs upwards, then place the tweeters in the doors facing forward so that they shoot into the glass, not inwards tilted forward but rather completely facing front wards.. what this does is make the distance fom the speaker to the glass to your ear be the same ( or relative ly closer) for both the speakers (mids) and the same for the tweeters.
now you may think that i'm taking nonsense, but it's a system developed by richard clark and david navone( writers for auto sound 2000 and car sounds magazine) they are who are infamous in the 12 volt industry. i've seen this in action. when done properly it yeilds the best imaging and sound stage. better depth. clarity. this is acoustical engineering at it's best, good luck
I always mount the tweeter close to the woofer for the best imaging and sound reproduction. If the tweeter is too high, you get that " tingy " sound . The crossover on the SPX's are very elaborate to say the least. Tons of adjusment for fine tuning if you know what your doing. What do you need to know about the crossovers ?

Thanks for the reply i'm glad someone knows the speakers im talking about .I just wanted an opinion and im glad you answered me cause i trust in your opinion.thanks again they are awesome speakers and some people not on this forum but another knew absolutely nothing about speakers or whats right and downed me. i meen if they could not answer a simple resistance question what makes them think they know speaker placemant and the effects of a remarkable croosssover which makes a huge difference. thanks again great sight guys love it .
