- Did you bypass the VATS properly and also did you make sure you disarmed the factory security system ( GREY/BLACK disarm wire in the door lock cylinder ).
- Did you program the remote control first before you tried using it ?
- Your Firebird starter wire should be YELLOW ( connect to GREEN on Compustar harness )
- You also have ( 2 ) ignition wires Primary - GREEN Secondary - BROWN

can i disconnect the vats even if i dont have power locks and if i still can will it be the same wire{grey/black}? im sure it has a factory securtiy system, because i noticed when i turn on the car my gauges light up and on the screen it says "security".
also when i bought the compustar it had a pre-wired relay connected to the violet and green wires from the harness. now, should i take off the relay and seperate the wires or leave them connected?
and on the remote, when i got the alarm it came w/2 remotes and it was installed on one of my other cars and the installer had programed 1 remote and the other was left alone, i had taken the alarm off my car and stored it why? long story..... but in the time it was packed away the remote that the installer programed was crushed so now im using the 2nd remote and it has the factory settings still programed but lets say im wrong is there a way to make sure that remote doesnt have any programming? the reason im asking is because when i connected all wires the remote and brain were not communicating w/each other....
one more ?, im not sure that this alarm compustar shf-2wa has the option for remote start could you please verify this for me, cause i e-mailed compustar 3 mo. ago and they havent responded. if possible for this option can you tell me which wires from the harness would i need from the alarm and the car's?
thanks for taking the time to answer my ?'s and again any info and tips provided are greatly appreciated.

You can't disconnect the VATS because the VATS is not part of the alarm portion of the factory alarm. THe VATS is the system that does not allow hot wiring of the vehicle by not turning over the engine if the resistor key is not present. https://www.velocitymotorsport.com/security/vatts.html
Leave the harness and the wires on the relay as you will want them there for the starter disable portion of the alarm ( go to Page 10 of the installation manual for more info on this circuit ). You will have to go to page 21 of your maual to learn a new transmitter and this will also bump out any old units that are stored into the memory of the remote control. The SHF-2W-AS has remote starter capabilities for both manual and automatic transmissions.
If you have any more questions pelase post and I hope I answered all your questions well enough and if not please reply to this post.

hey thanks for answering back!
i will take your advice and check the manual for the transmitter programing, and i will leave the pre-wired relay alone.
thanks for answering my ? on the alarm {remote start}.
i have a ? about the remote start, i downloaded the manual for remote start from compustar and it talks about a dip switch im not sure what to look for on my alarm, can you help me with this?
i appreciate all the time you've taken to answer my ?'s
your advice and answers have been very helpful!

The DIP switches are located ( I think ?? ) on either the sides of the casing or you may have to open up the casing and find the 4 white switches that they are referring to. It's been a while since I did one of these so my memory isn't that great. Let me know if you need any more help with the installation.
