You have to understand my background. I am a cop and an installer for about 20 years. I started in the days when Viper was the only real game in town. My job besides working a few cases is I build all the uncover stuff, i.e. pole cameras, wire houses and hotel rooms, build cars for dope buys with gps, shutdown and lock audio and video and so forth. Needless to say I have been doing this a while and while I am always learning I know what the heck I am doing.
Having said all that I am also tasked with installing all the alarms, remote starts etc. on all the agent cars. Now I have from time to time had to argue with "dealers" about how the aftermarket alarm or remote start does not cause what they are claiming it caused, just like every other experienced installer has had to do. I generally know what a problem with my equipment is and what isn't.
The one dealer I have had the most go arounds with is the local Dodge dealers service department. Come to find out every alarm company around here has had a go around with them and they (the Dodge dealer) are generally wrong. Well to make life better with them 17 Chargers we just ordered that were supposed to come with factory alarms didn't come with them, as well as no anti-lock brakes and side curtain airbags. With that being said they are doing the add ons. They sent a ginuwine "MOPAR" certified installer to my shop to install the factory alarm, this was after they told me I was not qualified to istall the thing (I offered because I was going to have to put other stuff in). What a bunch of jerks. Anyway the guy comes and is all about his tools and his butane torch not soldering iorn torch.
I wish you could see this install holy f&*$!ng wow. The power wire is through the firewall no grommet, and also in about 9 butane torched pieces. The power wire coming into the car is wrapped around the steering knuckle(nice). The whole thing is held in with one tie wrap and all the wire harnesses he TORCHED with his nifty tool are completely crap now. Not to mention he got all my lights and siren harness with his torch. Needless to say the car does not run and I had to pull the battery cable because the horn will not stop honking. The installer cannot understand what is wrong (DUH!).
So I called the guy that I have to argue with from time to time and told him, this is odd......) I think the problem is with the alarm his guy installed. Talk about some freakin iorony. All I could do is laugh.
So the next time you get treated as some species lower than whale crap because you install aftermarket parts remember this story. Also remember this is the same bunch of yahoos that put down your work when it comes in their shop. Maybe they should stick to changing air filters and floormatsposted_image. If anyone else has a similar story let's hear it.

Ahhh, the factory trained professionals!  QUESTION? These idiots are going to "add" side curtain airbags?  WHAT? And NO ABS? You guys need to find a better place to spend the collective community tax surplus....good God. This dealer sounds like a bunch of morons........

Get them back by making the dealership pay for the harnesses for all of your equipment and make them replace the cabin harness because their guy burned it. That will teach them.

KarTune to answer your question we are getting credits (woohoo) for the airbags and the abs. I was supposed to get one of these cars but I have been in too many situations where ABS has saved my life so I turned it down and will wait until next year. Also just like everything else in government we got them from the lowest bidder but the main screw up on the cars goes to our motor vehicle management experts.   They should have checked the cars when they came in and of course they didn't.

auex you would be proud of me that is exactly what is going to happen I don't think any of us would expect any less. I really wish yall could have seen this guy and if I can ever get the pictures off of my phone I will post them.
