I am looking for the TECH2 steps whi! ch the dealership has to perform to activate a rear camera. I looked over the mechanic's shoulder during the config attempt. We did not find the right feature selections correctly describing my vehicle because there was no factory rear view camera option for the '07 NBS pickups.

Does anyone know the exact TECH2/Techline screen sequence the mechanic has to go through to configure a rear view camera for the following vehicle:

2007 Silverado 2500 HD 4WD Crew Cab Standard Box LTZ, equipped with
RPO U3U Navigation Radio w/ CD/MP3 (HU Part# 1594 0103)
RPO U2J XM Radio Delete
RPO UE1 On-Star
RPO UQA Bose Premium Audio System

Any pointers are appreciated.

What he will have to do is add info into the TECH2 as if you had a Tahoe instead of a Silverado. It won't harm a thing on your truck. Does he understand the settings are not within the TECH2 but on the GM website? You have to download the trucks info onto the TECH2, connet the TECH2 to the shops computer, go to the GM site, make the changes, then reverse procedure. We have done literally hundreds of these...

I figured I wasn't breaking new ground. The mechanic did connect to the GM website (TIS?) but as you know did not find the expected screen selections for an early NBS Silverado. Will pass on the Tahoe "trick" and go from there ... Thank you!

Mike, I reviewed your post with my mechanic. To clarify your "reverse procedure" comment and make sure there's no misunderstanding:
1. Download Silverado's info into TECH2
2. Connect to shop's line to GM tech site
3. Select features as if configuring an '07 utility (Tahoe)
4. Disconnect from GM tech site
5. Load info into Silverado

Do we have it right? Thanks again.

Well, another question   ...

the whole camera circuit works fine when tested with an aftermarket camera with a four-conductor harness (12V pos, ground and Video) and hooked up to the GM Lockpick.. However, I  bought the GM camera (#2599 8187) and tailgate bezel (# 2595 8228) for final install .

Does anybody know the pinout for the GM camera which has six conductors, as follows: Yellow - White - Blue - Brown - Black - Red

Anybody know what the extra two leads are for and how to connect it all?

This question has been asked elsewhere before, but I've never seen an answer.

Got my question answered: If you start with the GM camera (#2599 8187),  then you have to use the GM harnesses, no aftermarket parts.  All done now, works like a charm.
