I haven't stretched the fabric yet, so I don't know how much air space I will have but I'm shooting for around 4-4.5 ft^3 for one L7.  So with a 4 ft^3 box, how big should the port be to tune it to 33hz.  I want the width of the port opening to be 14.75 in.

Forgot to add that I want it to be a rectangle type port.

What causes port noise? Too thin of a opening?  I want my opening around 3.5"x14.75"..I wont get port noise with that will i

From what I understand, too small of ports have bad noise. This is why you see huge ports often. Maybe someone can reiterate.

Do a search on the subject an you'll find calculators for round/square port conversion.

Circle port length to slot port calc
use that in combination with the link that jmelton gave you and you should get the tuning freq u want for a square/rectangle port
I'm not sure but from what I've read apparently port noise is from lack of port area
