Ok I have not had a chance to pull the radio just yet, but we have a customer with the 2003 Volvo XC90.  He would like to have installed the Pioneer navy "z-3".  Neither Scosche or Metra made a double din for t his vehicle.  I'm sure they have a good reason for it.  I'm needing to know if anyone has installed a double din in this vehicle.  Or if not or could not why not?

Thanks

Thought this vehicle had a double DIN OEM radio in there already. If so, it's a direct fitment for installing another double DIN aftermarket radio

Yup. Definitely check your wiring harness on this one, though. I had to hardwire mine but looked good when I was done. The only issue i had was when the car was in park the shifter was in the way so keep that in mind if your screen automatically engages.

If im not mistaken this vehicle needs a custom kit I did an 04 and it was quite the task. If it is the same as the 04 you need to run all your speaker wires and power from under the passenger seat as it is all optical and there isn't an antenna adaptor as it is also optical. Also you need to retain the factory radio somewhere under the dash otherwise you'll log an airbag code also you cannot disconnect the climate controls with the ignition on otherwise you'll get a check engine light and log an air bag code. Just so you know you'll need to retain not only the radio display you must also retain the cd mech. Hopefully this helps I walked into it blindly doing a nav it got done just took alot longer then expected.
