I am tearing up the interned looking for pre-impregnated carbon fiber cloth. I have tried every imaginable search and haven't turned up anything. Dose any body here know where I can find it? I am trying to cover my fiberglass box and build valve covers with it. Somebody PLEASE help me, I am about to pull my hair out.
Why do you ask if I ate paint chips when I was younger?

you can find that kind of cloth at an aircraft material supply company. however you might wanna stick to just traditional means when it comes to prepreg. Usually you need a means to keep it cold at all times until immediatly before you intend to lay the cloth. .also with alot of different types of prepreg you lose the carbon fiber "look" in the process becuase the resin is usually a different, opaque color that permeated the cloth (when it's on an aircraft its gets painted so no one sees it).  I would go fiberglass underlayers which is cheap and then a carbon fiber fashion layer with a little more resin or an epoxy layer over it. carbon fiber cloth itself is relatively cheap (approx $35per yrd) compared to any prepreg material unless you have a cloth freezer handy. that's how I've done it.

also remember how much of a pain CF is to use and make sure you have a decent bagging system handy.

Thank you very much for the help. I think with your explanation I will just stick with the tried and true dry cloth.
