I replaced my factory radio with an aftermarket one. I relocated the factory radio using the relocation harness and currently have it in the trunk. I relocated it so that I keep my door chime but I have a problem. Because I have my speakers wired to an amp, I lost the chime. My mother has the same car as me (02 cavalier) and I did the relocation on her car also. Her door chime works BUT with our factory radio's, the driver front speaker plays until the door is opened, after the car is turned off. This is fine except that since the aftermarket radio turns off once the car is turned off, the only thing that comes out of that speaker is static. Now I already know what I am going to do dealing with the door chime.... I am going to cut open the black wrapping around the harness and find the 2 wires for the driver front speaker. I will then cut them and wire a tweeter to the factory radio side and mount the tweeter up under the dash. That will allow the tweeter to have the door chime and not play music when the car is turned on ( I forget if I have the speaker wires wired to the back of the aftermarket radio). The part where I am stuck is dealing with the stopping the static sound that I would then have. There has to be a wire or wires that keeps that radio playing after the car is turned off. If I am able to find out which wire it is, I could simply cut it, I thinkwant door chime in cav - Last Post -- posted image. But I dont know which wire it would be.

My car has the retained accessory power (RAP) feature. Is there any way to disable it or cut a wire that runs the RAP so that I dont have static when the car is turned off?

Use the MGRC01 from Metra.  It has RAP for your aftermarket stereo, as well as an external chime module.
