audiobahn 8 subs and 400 watt amp

My brother recently got a new system from the insurance company after his truck was stripped. They sent him two audiobahn 200 wattRMS 8 inch subwoofers and a dub4001 400 watt mono amplifier. I wired up the subs series/parallel because they are dual 4 ohm and the amp can only take min 4ohm. The system is hooked up in a 1998 toyota camry, and it sounds good when I listen to it outside with the trunk open, but I really can't hear it when I am in the car. I guess I want to know what I can do to get the bass from the subs to be noticeable. Do I need to get a different amp, subs, or can I just mess with the settings?

why do you want to listen to the subs from the outside with the trunk open???

Have you tried turning the box around in the trunk? Make the subs face the opposite direction they are, it will either make it sound a lot better or a lot worse.Soldier: This is the worst part. The calm before the battle.

I would say check your connections. Make sure your not out of phase. That will do that sometimes. Also check your amp and see if it has a phase button. Check that fist then your speaker wires both inside the box and out side.
