hi im having some trouble installing my deck. Everything seems to be working fine, except that when i turn on the fog lights the deck just turns off. ive checked the current and it was working fine at 0.53A if i have it to the correct settings, but goes to zero when the lights are turned on for night time driving.

my car is a nissan r32 '89 skyline.
anyone ever encountered this problem before?

With the foglights turned off check the voltage on the red and yellow wires of your radio.   Turn the fog lights on and do the same.  When checking the voltage use the chassis of the radio as ground for your meter.  Post the voltages.

When you took these readings, where did you have the black meter lead connected.

Cut the ground wire off at the connection to the wire of the vehicle.  Ground the radio to the chassis of the vehicle.  It seems as though the wire you were using for ground is probably somehow related to the fog lights.  Usually when this happens it blows a fuse and the lights do not work anymore.  When the fog lights come on there is 12 volts on that wire you used.  Thus providing the real low voltages you got.

sounds like a nissan illumination wire you hooked the constant or the groud wire to just meter the harness as a whole and find the constant wire

the harness for the radio is similar to the sentra i believe
