I have an issue with the factory alarm on a 2006 honda civic. installed aftermarket  head unit with kit and harness from scoche. Alarm will sound intermittently while car is parked. Took car to dealership and they blame the aftermarket radio. Have talked to scoche sales and reps, they say they have used hundreds of these kits and harnesses and have not had any problems with them. Has anybody heard anything about this.

It may sound like poor troubleshooting from the dealer but first state what you did?  Did you just install a kit and harness???? Or was it just a kit without the harness.

As far as I know you can't damage a factory alarm by just removing the radio(older civics honda had the alarm built in the radio).  Another thing you can do is just reinstall the radio and see if the problem goes away(which I highly doubt).

Take the car back to them with the old radio on and state the problem.  Let them prove to you that it caused it to go bad.

It was a kit with a harness. I think I might try a different dealership also.  thanks for the reply.

Good ole' stealerships at their best. Just save yourself a head ache and reinstall the factory radio back in then take it to another dealer to have the problem fixed.
