i was just wondering what material/materials, would work to fashion a mold with flowing curves and irregular patterns on it.  i was looking for somthing that would hold up to the resin and could be formed with common tools like belt sander, rasps, ect and not cost a fortune.  i am looking to form a mold to replace my door pockets on my door panels on my 01 accord coupe for a three way front stage component set.

You will want to foil it or something that I have used last couple time is sarin-wrap pull it tight to were it forms

to mold without any wrinkles in it. The last time I tried it pulled right out. Left a glass smooth finish on the inside NOTE: Acetone will dissolve the foam to a sticky nasty mess

I did alot of  fiberglass fabrications and i used different kinds of materials like (foam - mdf - wood - fiber putty - strong paper - skin steel - aluminum ) to made moulds and have the best shape from the first time .

but you should know that there is no limits for materials or means that you can use to fabricate the fiberglass , I deal with fiber as a challenge , and i advice all do the same .
