But was my equation right about the 5 subs * 3 decibels = 15 decibel increase?

And if those SPL numbers are not accurate, what should I expect out of the box I mentioned before?

I'm just looking to know how many of these Tang Band 6.5 inch subs would I need to hit good low notes at a volume equal to my Type-R.

what do you mean? i mean yea if you want a tiny subwoofer that will blow out your ear drums, then yea, but what is it your trying to do? you say you want a little sub that sounds good, fairly big output, and doesnt need a huge amplifier. there have been tons of suggestions on this thread for that by lots of guys, all correct i might add. you must want some ridiculous amount of output or something. ???

make a transmission line enclosure. the way a speaker sounds is mostly on the enclosure you give it

its all about the box and the car buddy. i built a small ported box for a pair of 6 inch digital audio subs that i found. when i played with it in a friends trunk it wasn't that loud, but when i stuck it in the backseat of a truck those 2 little subs rang my ears on certain notes.

Not really looking for ridiculous output. I really don't know what to do. I love my set up right now, but if I could find small subs that hit as hard as my Alpine Type-R and sounded just as good (basically equal) that's basically what I was looking for. A little hard to find I know, but that's what I am looking for.
