I am adding am the factory navigation to my 2008 Lucerne CXS. I have done my homework and understand the addition of the antenna, the need for dealer reprogramming, etc.

But, there is one thing concerning VSS that can not get an answer for.

My car already has a VSS wire in the main radio harness. This is the described green and white wire. I assume it is there because the radio has the speed sensitive volume feature.

Do I need to install another VSS wire? I know that the typical position for the VSS wire is in the brown C4 connector that goes into a different jack on the nav radios. If I do have to install that brown C4, can I simply jump it off the existing VSS wire that is in the main radio harness?

I've never done a Lucerne but have had other GM's that are like that. All we did was jump the green white over to the brown plug...

Thank you for the reply.

Did you "T" into the existing VSS or pop the actual wire and terminal out of the plug and put it in the other plug?

On the new GM's VSS is handled through the data stream on the Nav units.

After more research than I ever expected, the VSS wire is located on the main harness coupling imediately behind the instrument cluster. Once you remove the dash, you find it middle port, second wire in.

This can't be true, i have installed dozens of factory navs in new trucks and some Caddy's and every one needed a VSS ran to it....
