So there we have it I think Mike M2 is spot on as usual. A couple of points:- Hyundai and Kia are the same company. Hyundai cars in the 80s were Mitsubishi based.  Mitsubishi  had an ETACs box on the mid-80's Galant, I know I had one at the time, having the tech back then it was always crashing, I found out how to reboot it and won a Mits dealership. Secondly most Orientals unlike here or the US keep the same systems eg locks wiring colours FOREVER, just look at how little the Corollas have varied over the decades!  They've only recently gone over to CAN systems. To change colours halfway through a model cycle is unknown. Ford have done it here three times to my knowledge since '71, UK to DIn, Din to US in '95 and variations with facelifts. ie hazards on (UK) Focus going data in '01. Could I  suggest our first poster simply checks every thing thoroughly like we would?  Mike how many times do we get conflicting info from Directechs etc?  You should all work on Peugeot/Citroen, made lousy, no secondary wiring colours, all pastel shades and these colours change every three months what is a etwis and where is it located? - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image. Regards H.

Wow so your telling me that the wiring diagram I used was not the same color of wires that was in my car?  HMMM that seems odd since the colors matched up perfectly and all the wires tested out correctly.  I guess being an electrician by trade and using a digital multimeter everyday I still don't know wth I am doing according to some people on the post.  Well I will tell you what.  How about I take some pics tomorrow of the ignition harness at the steering column and we see who knows what they are talking about.

I will even do the favor of some and contact the dealer myself and see what they say about the wiring on these cars.  The thing about production lines with cars is if they run out of one thing they grab the next closest thing to them and slap that in instead.   I guess like the 90-93 honda accords having 2 different types of brake calipers sued on them is just something else I made up.  If you don't think I know what I am talking about call your local part store on that and see if they ask you what type of calipher is in it so they know what brake pads to sell you.
