first fg sub box w/pics

Hey guys, I've been hanging around this forum for the last couple of years and enjoying the custom work that everyone posts.  I have been wanting to build something and I finally had a chance to so here it is, let me know whatcha think:

I have a couple of pics on my phone, I will see if I can get those on here.   I ended up bolting the box to the body through the bottom of the box and I am very satisfied with it's rigidity.  I also used hex head bolts with t-nuts to mount the sub so in case anybody were to break in and try to steal my precious, they will have one hell of a time! Lol.

Here is a pic of the box before it was finished,  it is about .5 cu. ft.  I ended up laying the fiberglass from the inside but it didn't end up mattering since I carpeted it.  I used about 3 layers of glass and that seems to have been more than enough.  For the stuffing inside I just gutted an old cotton pillow :-D      

As far as the build process goes, I just followed the basics:

1. Tape up area to be glassed.   2.  Lay several layers of fiberglass.   3. Remove once hardened and trim.   4.  Support the speaker ring.   5.  Stretch fleece, glued to the back.    6.  Resin and fiberglass until satisfactory

I am powering the sub with channels 3 & 4 of my power acoustik ps4-840 amp so it is getting about 170w RMS, and each of the front components are getting about 80w RMS from 1 & 2.

it's an entry level sub in a sealed box. .5 cubes is fine.

I wonder how many layers of glass did you use? boxes that are glass only don't have much strength and you do lose a lot of sound because the enclosure itself resonates, because glass is a LOT lighter than MDF. looks good, just wonder if it could sound better.

if you do have thise problem try glassing a bunch more layers, if you don't feel like doing all that, at least pull the sub out one last time and spray a bunch of rock guard in the box to weigh it down.
