after spending 6 1/2 hours on the phone with DEI and omega tech support the other day we came to the conclusion that we have no idea what the problem is...

I'm installing a DEI 561t and an xk05 in an 08 sequoia...I finished everything, got my IMI and IMO wires in the kick panel, remote started it and it shut off as soon as it started..then it did the same thing when i used the key...So i disconnected the imi wires from the xk05 and twisted them back together car side, and the car would start with the key fine, but obviously wouldn't remote start..i replaced the xk05, reflashed, reprogrammed, changed tachs, changed to voltage sense, change remote start, and even changed out harnesses...Same result....

Any ideas?

If the immobilizer portion were incorrect, the car would just crank, but never start at all.
Since it did start, even just for a moment, your bypass is fine.
There must be a problem with the basic installation of the remote start.
Does the 561T have shutdown diagnostics in the programming menu? You want to know what shut the unit down.....hood, brake, tach, etcetera.
P.S. How are you going to unlock the door after the remote start turns on? Factory Toyota remotes don't work with the car running.

Chris is right, Toyota's won't start at all if the immobilzer is working. You can confirm by looking at the security light, it will keep blinking if not bypassed during crank. Since it starts at all you can rule out hood and tach, logical conclusion is tach issue. Most Toyota's have tach at the OBD2 connector...

a few things 1.this one is just a little extra just to rule the remote start unit. put the key in the cylinder but do not turn it just leave it in the off position and turn the remote start on if it starts that men is the XK 05 2.revers the IMI wires (purple and purple and white ) 3.make sure your XK05 has power

chris, I put a relay on the ignition wire on the factory keyless so it thinks the car is still off. :-)

Mike, I figured it'd be the tach, but i changed to voltage sense and hit 2 diff. tach points (white wire at data plug and uncommon wire on injectors)..

dtk, I tried it with the key in the ignition, it did the same thing...

Now that I think back on it, the only wire I didn't double check was the brake wire...I bet that was it.. Sadly the customer wanted it done that day and if i couldn't do it then he didn't want it at all...I hate when ppl just dont understand that complications can and will arrise.

I wanted to add that I also reversed the imi wires and i triple checked that it was getting power... but like I said, the ONLY  thing i didn't double check was the brake wire...
