lincoln ls hood and trunk triggers

2002 lincoln ls I am installing a viper 5900 and Im trying to install the hood and trunk triggers however on the LS the hood and trunk pins are neg when the hood and trunk are closed and when they are open there is nothing I beleive that the alarm needs ground when the hood or trunk is open in order to trigger it. Is there a way around this instead of adding new pins.

I believe that if you use the Bitwriter you can change some settings to get round this, otherwise separate pin switches.

are you sure that they go to ground when they're closed if so it will go to twelve when opened not a neutral state, i don't believe there is any setting to work around this howie, as far as i know there ae two types of triggers used, ones that go to ground when opened and ones that go to twelve when opened, the 5900 hood trigger is negative, as well as the trunk, i have a feeling you should check to make sure with your dmm,  the purple wire of the 5900 is the positive door trigger wire. if the hood and trunk contacts are positive then you may have to use relays to invert the signal to the alarm.commit your way to jehovah and he will act in your behalf. psalms 37:5

Fords are funny like this.  The switch is "reverse wired" in that it goes to ground when the switch is pushed down but goes open circuit when released i.e. on opening the door. This method was used years ago on hood switches on the  UK Escort and more recently on the latest UK Transit and the US (But not Euro) Focus.  I noticed DEI do a module to get round this but it's probably a latching relay.  A normal switch will show 0volts on open i.e. it's going to ground.  The reason it shows 12volts+ when closed is that you're grounding the dome light.
