I have had great luck with the pioneer 4000. The Alpine is flip down face which i have always found to look better and last longer. The pioneer does have a subwoofer output so that you can control your subs from the deck tho. In that price range i'd look at the new pioneer head units that have just came out. They are the 2100, 3100, 4100ub i believe and I think they look better and are actually a little bit cheaper in retail stores(best buy) than last years pioneers

This Clarion DXZ785USB is a much better deal than either IMO.
5.8v 6 channel outputs, active crossovers, time alignment, 768 background colors to choose from, and a nice list of other features for under $150 shipped from an authorized dealer.

clarion looks like a good deal and prolly works great. But i think the unit itself looks awful. If they were going for cosmetics on that they failed miserably. To many buttons, switches, bells and whistles
