I need a wiring diagram for a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab.  I am trying to install an alarm and i have only found wiring info for 2000 Tacoma. Anyone out there have what I need? Thanks in advance

According to my tech notes, the 2002 is the same as the 1998 - 2001 Tacoma.

Thanks, another question - the double cab has rear child safety door locks.  See https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page4.asp#tc

does that mean i will need an additional relay setup as shown in the diagram for keyless entry to work properly with the child safety locks?

That is great help dan, can anyone help me finding the Tach sensor wire.  I can't find the damn thing to save my life.  By the way -  I finally started the install in my 02 Tacoma Dbl cab.  It is not going very well because the previous wiring diagrams i had do not match the vehicle.  Hopefully the one Dan posted will prove to be more accurate.  if anyone else outthere has a more complete wiring setup for the 02 Tacoma Dbl cab please post it.

Also,

Does anyone know what location and color the child safety lock wire is?

The wiring info Dan posted is correct except for the start wire (actually black at ign switch and BLACK / YELLOW behind fuse box.  Test with a meter to confirm while cranking) and the IGN wire for the igniter and such is BLACK/ red.  The tach wire is light GREEN/ black at ECM in the white 28 pin connector or you can tap it at the diagnostic conector on the drivers side under the dash by the center console.

The Tacoma does not use a double unlock signal for doors other than the drivers door.  Most Toyota's with factory, not port or dealer installed, do use this system(i.e. Camry, Avalon).  You may be thinking of the little mechanical locks on the rear doors near the lock that prevent opening the doors from the inside that are also called child safety locks.  My D-cab with the port installed security system does have this feature, but it is part of the control module and wiring for that add-on system.

Hope this helps.
