Anyone know of a decent-priced 3 or 4-ohm ~2" to 2.5" midrange out there?  I want to replace my OEM units and I'm having a hard time locating one.

Do you mean a speaker that has a 2.5" mounting diameter or a 2.5" diaphragm?  Hmm, let me see, I like a challenge... here's a few options:

Decent 2" dome midrange, another 2" dome midrange that is a little smaller, here's a decent 2" cone full-range that will work as a mid and is cheap to boot, here's an interesting one:  It's an 8-ohm speaker but it'll be just fine in a car,  another version is here I'm not sure what's the difference, this is an outstanding sounding 3" that I have used before as an extended range mid if you can make it fit, I don't know anything about this one but it's interesting... and that was only checking one speaker supplier.  As you can see there are many options out there.

I looked at Madisound and saw, and discounted, each of the drivers you referenced above, EXCEPT for the peerless 830983!  Somehow I missed it.  Thanks, I am gonna run the numbers and see what I come up with.  Or, at $14.50/each, I might just buy a few for the hell of it.

Good work Sherlock!
