If using an IDATA module in this car, the wiring diagram says that you have to hit the starter in the car as well. My question is can you hit the one positive starter wire or do you need to hit the negative one too, to start the car. Also the remote starter is RS 232 compatible does this mean that I don't have to hard wire anything from the remote starter module to the IDATA module? Its just that the instructions are very bad.

Do yourself a favor and hardwire. Rs 232 is unreliable. Follow the Idata intrutuctions to a tee, it will do the negative starter function thru multiplex...

Totally agree, with Mike

The data port does not support all the fonctions. Same issue with tach signal ou door output. hardwire is the best and always works!

The RS232 work fine with Compustar systems and are getting better with Autostart systems and with the right interface cable, DEI products are now RS232 compatible with the iDatalink modules. What remote starter are you using? What module number are you using ? Make sure it's loaded with the newest firmware and make sure that you have the newest installation guide that accompanies the newest firmware as well otehrwise it will not work properly.
