5301 in 04 grand prix

I am looking at putting in a Viper 5301 in my 2003 Pontiac Grand prix. What else am going to need to get this accomplished. I am very knowledgable in electronics and 12 volt electrical but have always stayed away from alarms until now.

yes you will need a bypass, that car has Passkey 3

Use the XK06 with the PKG5 software. If you have a D2D cable all you have to hook up with data at the OBDII port, and you don't lose a key. Instead of going to the Passenger side for 12V, your 12V constant can be found at the BCM in a green plug closest toward the door on the floor side. There are three orange wires bunched together that are in a L shaped pin pattern. All 12V that supply 30A of current, but you can use one of them.

I know this thread has been dead for a while but I am trying to install a viper 5902 in my 2004 pontiac grand prix. I ordered this bypass for the remote start http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009SUEZE/ref=oss_product  which I believe to be model 556UW. The only problem with this is that according to my research I will have to lose a key. I don't have a spare key and this will be a big expense if its required. So I am interested in the "D2D" option listed above or any other anyone may have. I don't want to shell out 300 bucks to have this installed professionally. Thanks

Are you willing to spend another $40 for a No Key Required type bypass module?

There are several options available.  The Fortin PATS-GM will work but needs two working keys to program.  Products from iDatalink like the  ADS TBSL PL will do the PK3 bypass.  Modules like the ADS DLSL GM will do the bypass and door locks, alarm, trunk, Tach and door / trunk status.  ( iDatalink modules only need one working key to program.)

Yes I am definitely willing to spend that much to eliminate the need for the key. It seems like the perfect solution. My only problem is that there are several different models listed that apparently do the same thing. You mentioned the ADS DLSL GM but there is also the ADS ALSL GM and the ADS DLSL GM1. Are these all the same? If not which one do you think would work best for my vehicle?  Thank you for the quick reply Kreg.

Any of those 3 would work well.  They are the iDatalink Solo series and should come with the correct firmware already loaded.  It will save you a lot of time and trouble if you are installing an alarm / remote start unit.  Compare the install guides to see if there are are differences for the install for your GP.  Then see which one your can find at the best price.
