Hi. I'm pretty new to the forum & I'm here because my car was recently totalled and now I'm looking to move the goodies into its replacement.
Since insurance wouldn't cover my aftermarket remote start I pulled it out. It's a Python 571XP (+ 3 piggybacked modules & remote antenna) and was installed in an 02 Aurora. A local shop guesstimated $85 to put it in my 04 Impala. I really don't want to deal with that rat's nest of wires so that seems pretty appealing. On the other hand they sell remotes installed "from $88" so maybe $85 is high?

That is a resonable price for something like that.

The install price of $85 is a good deal.

My shop charges $149 minimun usually about $189 and charges about $30 to remove if we didn't install it.

If they are advertising $88 for new unit install,...beware of extra costs!

Some shops in my area, list base model prices for installs requiring no bypass/es.

When you call in they will ask for your model car then you can just hear adding machine clicking.

In most cases, my shop charges less than their final price after they add the "extra parts needed for install".

You will probably need a different bypass for starters. I doubt the bypass used in the Olds is compatable with the Chevy. Different ignition systems.

So ask for "bottom line" Or" total setimated cost".

We have been doing GM cars for so long and have them all figured out so we know exactly what to charge for each model.  If they can't give you a total cost estimate,...find a shop that will.

Dang $85 bucks! I don't know how you guys do things in Michigan, but if he is a good trust worthy installer I would go for it! I would charge $199.99 for the installation of the Python 571XP and $29.99 more for the installation of a bypass module.

I think we get 280 labor for a remote start unit.  We fully load all remote starts, the 280 includes labor for fully loaded alarm and remote start.  Window up and down are not included.
