other than giving you a little bit more airspace inside the box it wouldnt make a difference. depending on what the airspace is in the box and the requirements of your subs, you could actually endup with too much airspace and hurt your overall sound

Right now im about 1 cubic foot per sub... to sound best they shoudl be in a 3 cubic foot box.. so now what you think? i can use all the airspace i can get on this sealed box?

i would double check the sub specs. they will usually give you 2 different airspace requirements. one for a sealed box and one for ported. 3 cubic ft per sub seems like alot. most 12" subs require anywhere from 1 - 2 cubic ft with 2 being somewhat abnormal

Thanks for your quick replys.. my subs are in a box like this one..

Sealed for that sub is .88-2.0cu.ft. They will be just fine. A larger ported enclosure would yield you much better output though.

I think it relies on what you want to hear. Inverted, with that airspace, your bass will only get a little muddier sound. Your ears may pick up a sound that paddles your fancy more, having you believe you have gained something. Or they may not. I have 2 12's sealed with that same airspace. I am about to invert them myself just to see if I like what I hear, more. One thing I noticed was: I made a 6" hole in the center divider so the subs share airspace. That was big. Bye bye SQ rock music style, but hello lower bass and a lot richer sound.... Next-I'll plug the the 6" hole and invert the subs.   Then remove the plug, so Im inverted/sharing. In the end, I'll go with I believe to be the best. OH, this will cause conflict by saying, but adding a second baffle improved my sound, according to my ear. Well worth the effort.   Double baffle sealed is a new rule of thumb for me.This is what I do for FUN!

Sup Ian, Could you please elaborate more on this double baffled sealed you speak of?Im not quite sure i follow you.I am thinking about cutting a hole in my center divider as well because my subs call for 1.0 cuft.each.When i built the box i didnt get the sub displacement right and they are about .08cuft each.I think making a hole would give them that needed extra space.sorry for the thread jack O/P , curiosity got the best of me!!!-A vision without a plan is just a hallucination-
