Put a Viper 5901 into a base model Express Van (no power locks/windows) and I'm having an issue. The customer came in with a blank key, all metal, no passlock resistor at all. I assumed there is no passlock as this vehicle can start and run with a blank key (no chip). Hooked up everything properly and went to remote start: vehicle shuts off immediately after starting with the security light flashing on the dash. I tried remote starting with the key in the ignition, same thing. Any ideas??

The van has passlock 2. There is no chip in the key. It is in the actual ignition cylinder. In your case, I would use a PLJX.

my geuss would be that your van is equipped with a passlock circuit, not a vats.  This type of antitheft circuit is easily bypassed with basic hardware and the info can be found here http://documents.audiovox.com/700054.pdf

This much I figured. Thank you for the swift replies. I had a 555l laying around and decided to try it. Worked like a charm.
Just read up on Passlock and how it works, should have done that a loooooong time ago!
Thanks for your help again peoples.

I have a problem... Installed RS  with pljx on 2004 Express. At first security light flashed and the van wouldnt start for a while.  now the van starts with the key and RS but the security light stays on.  Does anybody know how to turn that off or reset it? because it stays on after you start the van.

sounds like you have an open circuit on the r-code wire

Start25:  Remove the bypass and it's connections and re-connect the R Code  ( yellow ) wire you cut.  Try starting with a key.  Should work OK with no light.  Then, cut the R Code wire again and install the bypass.  Try starting with a key.  If it's still working OK, program the bypass again.  Then try a remote start.

If the light comes on again maybe the bypass is bad or bad wire or connector at the bypass.  Try a reset or re-flash on the bypass.  Try another bypass module and harness.

Soldering is fun!

Yes! I fixed it!

Disconected the bypass module.  Turned the ignition on for a little bit and the security light turned off.

Hooked up ground wire from bypass module to ground on ignition (tan wire)

Resistor wire  to (yellow)

Re programed bypass module, and everything works great now...
