I have a 06 Silverado w/t model in which i installed a viper 5900 remote start.  The alarm functions well and the vehicle starts with the key just fine but when i try and remote start it, the vehicle cranks and fires but does not stay running.  It fires for just a second and then quits.  I double checked the tach wire and programmed the tach signal but this is frustrating.  anyone have any ideas?  does the work truck model have passlock??

Sure sounds like Passlock2.  Check the steering column for a group of 3 thin gauge wires with the following colors coming down from the ignition switch: YELLOW (+), BLACK (-) and RED / WHITE.

Soldering is fun!

So the three wires means passlock 2? So whatmodule would I use for that? And it would be passlock 2 for sure not passlock 1? How do I tell the difference?

That vehicle would be passlock 2. do you have power locks with keyless entry?
if it does i would suggest something like GMDLBP

i have been driving the truck every day i just cant remote start it.  cant i just bypass it like the old VATS systems and just put a resistor in line with the passlock wires?

Here is a link to the "Relays and resistor" method.  http://documents.audiovox.com/700054.pdf   Or you could look for a DEI 556LW ( available @ online auction for ~ $23 ).
