db all on flashing

Purchased a DB-ALL without thinking to find the answer first. I'm installing it in a 2003 GMC Sonoma and I'm trying to find out if it will have to be flashed to function? I've done a couple searches on google and on here and couldn't find the answer. If it has been covered please just post link...not here to make someone explain stuff twice. I just couldn't find the explanation. Need any other info let me know. Thanks in advance.

Afraid so.  You need 401.GM5 v1.03 firmware flashed on the DB-ALL for your application. Soldering is fun!

Speaking of the DB-ALL, I've actually made a fun discovery about it tonight (using my first one on an '09 G37 with Intellikey). And by "fun" I mean it's a major pain in the rear - it requires an XKLOADER2 to flash, as opposed to the XK-series Xpresskit/Directed modules which can be flashed with an original XKLOADER. As far as your install goes, jared.malcolm, I'd suggest the following course of action: 1. See if any shops around you are able to flash the DB-ALL for you. If you've got a Directed products dealer around, chances are they may be able. 2. If you can't get it flashed locally, you'll presumably have to send it back to wherever you purchased it from and have them flash it. If you're going to end up doing this, I'd suggest maybe proceeding to step 3... 3. IMHO the DB-ALL is overkill on an '03 Sonoma. A standard Passlock II bypass (such as the PLJX) will work just fine at a much lower price, although you'll still have to connect several more wires to the vehicle. If you don't mind finding about 4 more wires on the truck, you can save yourself quite a few $$ this way, and it won't be much of an inconvenience if you're having to ship the DB-ALL back already.C Renner's Auto Electronix
