Hi guys! im installing a compustar cm5200 unit into a 2007 honda civic (auto) and using the idatalink ads-al as my bypass. i just wanna know if i need to connect the starter wire output of the RS unit to the vehicle? base on the installation guide of the ads-al bypass, the RS starter output is connected to the BLACK/ white wire of the bypass module if i use the standard mode.

which is better to wire the bypass? data mode or standard mode?

if i use the data mode wiring, what are the RS wires do i need to connect to the vehicle? see my list below

a) 12v b) accessory, c) ignition, d)gnd, e) parking lights, f)tach, g) brake wire.

do i need to wire GWR wire of the RS unit if i use the data-data mode? if yes, where can i connect it?

thanks a lot......

Since the RS starter output is connected to iDatalink bypass you no longer need to connect this wire to the car's starter wire. To which is better, data mode or standard? In my personal experience I'd use the standard (old school) mode.
For GWR, if you use data mode, you do not need to connect this wire.

X2 with ruki101 concerning W2W mode.  It might take longer to connect but it always works.

The ADS AL CA should be flashed with ADS AL(DL) HA Ver 4.81

I believe you will find that the CM5200 still needs these connections directly to the Civic :

CN1-1 Red                                           to +12V constant  - White @ Ignition Harness

CN1-2 GREEN / WHITE                           NU ( safer to use (-) Parking Lights )
CN1-3 RED / White                               to +12V constant - White @ Ignition Harness
CN1-4 White                                       to ACC1 - Orange @ Ignition Harness
CN1-5 Violet                                       optional
CN1-6 Yellow                                     to Starter - Yellow @ Ignition Harness ( also to iDatalink BLACK/ White )
CN1-7 Green                                      to IGN - Blue @ Ignition Harness
CN1-8 Black                                        to chassis ground

CN3-1 GREEN / WHITE                           to (-) Parking Light - Gray @ Steering Column

CN3-4 Light Blue/White                    to (+) Brake - Light Green @ Brake Pedal Switch
CN3-7 WHITE/ Black   ACC2               to extra relay Pin 85. Pins 86 & 87 to +12V constant thru 20A fuse.
                                                               Pin 30 to ACC2 - Red @ Ignition Harness
CN3-9 Black                                        to iDatalink GWR Blue/White ( if in W2W mode )
CN3-14 Yellow/Black                         to non-common F.I. wire
CN3-16 Gray/Black                             to Hood Pin ( if Civic does not have hood pin for iDatalink to get & supply status )

I believe the R/S Starter connection to the iDatalink module is used only for the modules lock control.  Here is a link for more info from iDatalink : http://12voltdata.com/viewtopic.php?f=220&t=2886     A quick call to iDatalink Tech Support to verify might be in order.

Soldering is fun!

thanks everyone for the response.

@ kreg, so you mean i still need to connect the RS starter output wire to the vehicle as well as the starter wire from the bypass module.

thanks a lot

Kreg is correct, you need to connect the starter to both the RS and the bypass...
