Where did you grab tach from ?
I've used signal from Tach wire at instrument cluster (actually had some very short cranks using this wire. I believe reason for that is because the HPOP makes the Tach move while cranking & I believe remote starter thought it was started from signal it got), injector wire from IDM & alternator sensing (what I'm currently using now because it gives me the longest crank time).

Also try a high impedance test light connected to the tach wire you have selected and clamp one end to +12v and probe the would be tach signal while running and you should see the light flashing with the RPM's of the engine.
Pretty sure Tach signal is good. I hooked my volt meter up to it & it was in range (1-8 volts AC) while running.
