I am currently installing a prestige APS 996 with remote start on a 97 Dodge Ram. I cannot get the module to learn the Tach. On the diagram it says use a Gray/Black at the coil. The coil has only a BLACK/ gray on it. I found a gray/black at the PCM on the passenger firewall and have tried using the gray/black and the BLACK/ gray at the coil. I have also tried using the wire on the injector for a signal. I have tried everything I can think of and numerous wires but the unit will not learn the tach. Any help is appreciated!

thanx

If I had a dime for every time you walked away, I could afford to not give a sh*t and buy a drink and drown the day.

Wow, ur not gonna believe this.....I was actually installing an APS 995c, which was made for circuit city and has the DEI wiring. In the installation manual it says the GREEN/ orange wire is the tach input. Even when it talks about troubleshooting the tach lead it says to check the GREEN/ orange wire. I look on the back page of the manual which has the wiring schematic for the whole system, and it says the PURPLE / white wire is the tach input....So I switch the wires and it works fine....wut kinda sh*t is that???

I recently installed a Prestige APS-996 on a 98 Ford Mustang. I used the specified tach wire and the module correctly identified it. When the car tries to remote start it starts and runs about 25% of the time and is fine. The other 75% of the time the car turns over once then sets off the alarm and fails to start. The siren just starts wailing. Its not the factory theft deterrent, becuz the car doesnt even get to the point of running so that the factory deterrent would kill it. If anyone has any ideas I appreciate the response....

thanx
