can 05 equinox remote start be tachless?

so I been going through my gf truck getting ready for winter. she has a ca-420 in there that she said a mechanic had disconnected saying something wrong with.seeing I am familiar w electronics and mechanics ive seen way too many times a mechanic blame starter.i hook it up and it works but I think he disconnected because her truck is sometimes hard to start(not starter related)hopefully tune up related and I noticed in tach mode starter kept cranking until truck finally started so I would rather 3 timed attempts and shut off if truck don't want to start, until I sort that issue out. thanks

The 2005 Equinox does not have an actual Starter wire at the ignition switch like most vehicles. The vehicle monitors the Ignition and Accessory wires to determine when the key is turned to the START position. When it sees this happen it engages the starter motor and controls how long it cranks. Here is a note from ReadyRemote on the Equinox : Starter wire is not required for remote start. When the vehicle sees that the ignition wire has voltage and the two accessory wires lose voltage, it automatically cranks the starter. You can confirm this several ways. The easiest is to sit in the car and turn the key to ON then fairly quickly rotate it to START and return to ON. Listen to the starter, it will crank longer than you had the key to START. Another test you can do is turn the key to ON then rotate the key to START and hold it there for as long as you like. The starter will crank until the engine starts and then disengage, even though you still have the key to START. Bottom line, the car controls how long the starter cranks. Being in Tach, Tachless or Fixed Crank Time mode with the remote start system has no effect on the vehicles control of the starter motor.Soldering is fun!
