I just picked up a RF-2WG9-SP remote upgrade kit. I noticed there's no mast included. Do these kits use a mast?

Mast = Antenna ?

Think that is why they are less expensive than an actual ( full) kit.  They are an upgrade to an existing install.  As long as you currently have the correct  / matching antenna, you're all set.

Soldering is fun!

This is what the antenna looks like in the upgrade kit. There's a small hold in the end opposite the six pin connector. It appears as though there should be an wire style antenna that goes in there, but no where on the internet can I find a picture of the complete antenna. Nor does it appear as though it can be taken apart.

Kreg,
I don't know what the difference is between a regular remote kit and an upgrade kit. The upgrade kit I bought came with two remotes, antenna cable and the antenna pictured above. Everything a regular RF kit usually includes. If I get a chance I'll post some pics later.

It kinda looks like a wire antenna should come out of the end of it, but I haven't been able to open it up to see if there are any connections inside it.

My curiousness got the best of me. Using a set of dental picks I VERY gently pried the case open. Once open you can tell there's nothing else needed with this antenna. The antenna is internally wound. It doesn't use a mast like a monopole or dipole antenna.

Interesting.  That's a full kit, but with a new style antenna.  What's the range like?

Soldering is fun!
