Viper 4115v/Idatalink ALCA alarm issues

Evening all, need a bit of help with an install that I am currently working on. Vehicle is my daughter's 2013 Subaru Forester (auto), installing a Viper 4115V one button remote start W2W with an Idatalink ALCA handling transponder bypass (flashed ADS-AL(TB)-SUB-EN). The rest of the required connections are direct to vehicle (tach, brake, - parking lights, unlock, hoodpin). Completed install, remote starts/runs as it should....my problem is that when door locked with factory remote, an attempt to r/s sets off vehicle alarm so thinking I missed factory alarm disarm/rearm. Is it as simple as making these two connections and, if so, to where on the vehicle? My wiring information for " Disarm no unlock " simply states transponder, ignition, and keysense! Any help/ information much appreciated...thank you, Al

Did you connect the ADS AL-CA Orange wire to the cars' Keysense wire as shown in the Type 2 wiring diagram?Soldering is fun!

kreg357, thanks for the prompt response......yes orange ALCA wire conndcted to blk/wht keysense at position 2 (30 pin connector BCM). Will recheck connection/solder in a couple days time when I get access to vehicle again. Is this the main connection responsible for alarm disarm before r/s? Thanks, Al

On those Subies, the alarm can only be controlled via the Factory remotes. The work around is a simple key startup, if you are already in the vehicle. For a Remote Start up, it does the same thing and the alarm disarm is seeing Ignition, Keysense and the transponder at the same time. In your case, the R/S and bypass should be doing that for you.Soldering is fun!

Kreg, haven't had an opportunity to re-check that keysense connection yet....however, vehicle can be remote started without triggering alarm if unlocked first and re-locked immediately afterward. Would this not indicate that the keysense is functional? Also noticed on the Idatalink options for the ALCA(TB) flash that factory alarm disarm is not a feature....so am I missing connnection/connections from the r/s to satisfy the 3 requirements (transponder bypass, keysense and ignition) for alarm disarm? The Viper 4115 is a one button remote start system. While I'm not a Viper expert, I believe that this system does not have the ability to output a Lock command. Additionally it's Unlock command can only happen while the engine is running under a remote start. Therefore, your test of Unlocking before a R/S and then Lock after the engine is started is by use of the Factory FOB's. As mentioned earlier, typically the Factory Alarm system can only be controlled by the Factory Remotes and that is what you are doing. So your test proves it is possible to remote start the car without the alarm going off but have to use both the Factory Remotes and the Viper remote to do it. That is not ideal, considering the short range of the Factory Remotes. So you goal is to get the Subie to remote start without setting of the Factory Alarm. This is where the experienced 12 Volt installer earns his fee. It's usually a mater of matching the best suited R/S system to the vehicles needs. In your case you would probably like to have a programming options like these on your Viper (from a Prestige APS57E) : 18th   Door Lock Control.....No Change.........Unlock Before &.............Unlock Before Start.........Lock After Start ......................................................................Lock After Start 23rd   Ign & Accy Relays.....No Pulse w/UL.....Pulse Ign, Accy, &..........Pulse Ign, Accy, &..........Pulse Ign, Accy, & .........................................................................GWR w/Unlock................GWR w/Unlock .................................................................................................................Follow 1 S w/ASD Pulse With these options you could Unlock before and Lock after remote start and the Unlock command would also cause the desired IGN and GWR outputs to turn off the alarm. The Viper 4115 does not even have the "SafeStart" option like some highend Viper systems. I would still verify the Keysense connection from the bypass module. It might only be used during initial module programming and might not be used during a remote start to turn off the alarm. A call to iDatalink might be in order to find this out. Next, you could check to see if the ADS AL-CA module has the option of "Unlock Before and Lock After" in its' Advanced Features Menu. It might not because this is only the TB version, not the DL version of firmware. Soldering is fun!

It's a common misconception that the alca is sending a valid transponder code to override the chip in the key on Subarus. It's not. Also, the keysense from the alca is a input not an output. The catch is, even if you power up keysense the alarm will still go off. If anyone has ever wondered why you would need to split the security light on this install this is why. If the module was sending a true transponder code, the security light cut wouldn't be necessary. Specs, you have three options. 1. Continue to unlock before starting (not a great option). 2. Purchase a second alca and load dl-sub firmware on it to control the alarm (expensive and time consuming). 3. Turn off the factory alarm. Turn key on, press and hold the unlock button on the driver's door switch and open the driver's door while holding. After 20 seconds, al/of will appear in the cluster along with a horn beep confirming the alarm is off (easy but you lose your alarm).
