Hey guys, I stumbled on your forum while trying to research my questions and I wanted to let you know it’s clear from an outsider this is a great bunch of folks trying to help each other. Great culture!
Here’s what’s going on:
I have a new to me 2015 F150 platinum that has two short comings in my opinion, the first improvement I want to make is make the power mirrors fold in when the truck is locked. From what I’ve researched this isn’t a coding issue with Ford that can be changed like other vehicles. Some failed ideas I’ve had are, use the signal for comfort exit (seat and steering coulum retract when ignition is switched on or off) unfortunately it’s on a medium speed CAN bus. So I don’t have a way to use that to trigger relays.
I can’t use the lock/unlock signal for the doors without loosing the auto lock feature which I like.
I can’t use the power running boards signal because they would retract and extend twice as many times as I needed. So I don’t think that’s an option.
I thought about using the dome light as a trigger and the park ground signal so when the dome light comes on and it’s in park they would fold. Is there a way to use the same trigger (dome light) to fold the mirrors in and then the same trigger to fold them out?
The other issue is I want to have the truck lock when I leave with the keys. I’ve looked into proximity sensors and RFID as being an option but there may be an aftermarket solution already available you can steer me towards. Maybe something that I could use to run the features but keep the remote starting, alarm, and keyless entry I already have.
Eventually my goal is to deep dive into CAN bus programming and this would be a perfect project to solve both issues but I don’t have the time to dedicate to that portion right now.
And in case the question gets asked, I could press the button to fold the mirrors in and push the door handle to lock the door... but I would rather have it work without my input.
Thanks for any help guys!

You should be able to use any function that drives a 12V actuator to also drive a relay or directly through the use of isolation diodes.
