Hey gang, I am needing a latching relay to trigger a fan on an auxiliary trans cooler, I believe that the "Momentary to Constant output" located on this page https://www.the12volt.com/relays/special-relay-applications.asp would be the best option.
I guess I have two questions, 1) Is the diode a standard 1N type?    2) Will that diode keep all current from back feeding into the ground (trigger) circuit?
I intend to use an existing "Tow Mode" button on the vehicle which is a momentary ground trigger sent to the ECM to change transmission shift points. My fear is that when the latching relay is energized/de-energized that current might backflow into the ECM causing issues.
I have attached a basic diagram of how it will be wired.

A 1N400x diode will work fine. You will need to find a way to break the constant 12v to unlatch- perhaps just a momentary push button switch.
