Hi

I have a feeling this should be fairly simple to achieve, but i'm not sure how!

Here's what I want to do:

I am fitting some angel eyes to my BMW (the halo type rings in the headlights) but owing to the bulbs having a limited lifetime, and replacement being a little awkward what I would like is for the sidelights (that will supply the power for the angel eyes) to go OFF when the main lights are switched on....so that the angel eyes are not on all the time.

Obviously, the sidelights come on with one position of the light switch, and the main beams come on with a further position.

I kind of get the idea I need a relay to achieve this!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Is it my English terminology that is losing people?

Erm.......I think what i mean by 'sidelights' is what are referred to in the States as 'Parking lights'

These are the lights that you switch on when driving in dim/dusk conditions - when main headlights are not necessary.

If you are worried about the life of the bulb for your angel eyes, why not consider using LEDs for the angel eyes.  Then you won't have to worry about having to turn them off.  The LEDs should last the life of your car.

but to answer your question if you would prefer not to go with the LED...

30 = + from sidelight

87a = + to angel eyes

86 = ground

85 = + from headlight
