I am installing a Pioneer SYS910DVD in a 2001 Ford E350 van. When connecting the Lt. Grn. parking brake wire the manual states that it must be connected to the positive (+) side of the parking switch. When I check both sides of the pin switch, I get 0 volts. I assume that this wire is ground only from the parking light. I can't get the Nav. system (AVIC-80DVD) to load the software. I assume that is because it thinks the brake is not set. I have connected the Lt. Grn. wire the the pin switch at the parking brake. Is this the problem? Where can i find the positive (+) side?

Most systems require a (-) signal from the parking brake to engage the system. Try this for the Pioneer system.

most pioneer video products need to see a ground on the lt green wire....not sure on the avic80, but my avic90 and 7500dvd require ground on the parking brake wire....ground it, see if it works.

Yah, it's supposed to be grounded (when parking brake is applied) neutral when brake is off.
I just installed the Pioneer Sys910 in my car. I just grounded both the parking brake wires (from the 6500dvd and the avic80) to the frame of the dash.
I thought maybe because of the gps and vss that it would realize that I was moving even though it says that the parking brake is on, but nope, works perfect.

I grounded the wire directly but it made no differance. If it is connected to the + side wouldn't the nav see 12 volts & then a drop as the parking brake is engaged. When I insert the Nav. DVD CNDV-21 disc, I see the Pioneer logo & startup screen for a second & then it disappears. Help!

Trying to access the installation manual for this from Pioneer but their page comes up as DNS error. I wouldn't put a (+) on this wire incase it fries something in the CPU. If you need technical support, call Pioneer direct or email them. They should be able to help you out more.

Pioneer is useless if you are installing this on your own. They want this only installed by certified installers. They definitely wouldn't give me the VSS wire code or any other install info. By teh way thanks for yhe VSS code info in a previous post.

You could also try a PTR7, pulse trigger relay from pheriphal. we use it in all are nav and in dash video systems.

I am an installer in the U.K AND HAVE THE 80DVD NAV MATED TO A 7500 DVD SCREEN ......The parking brake wire needc to see a negative when the hand brake is applied...It can be earthed to chassis and actually works better as you can get at all the software that you will normally need to be parked up for,,,,,,Also means that my 7500dvd can be working on the move for passengers to watch films on...If you open the front panel on the 80dvd you will find a reset button,,,,remove the software disc ,pressthe reset for a few seconds and try the disc again....

Forget the parking brake, forget a relay....just take the lt green parking brake wire from the radio, and ground it to the chasis of the vehicle.  This is all that you need to do.
