No light in my dash and center

im installing a new head unit in my 2001 mustang...
having lots of problems...first i can find the constant 12v cable...the digram list ltg grn and violet..but i think its violet and lgt blue.
then all my lights went out...is it because of the ground i havn'et grounded ne thing... or fuses.... haven't check yet..but just wondering if i messed ne thing up?
i have switched 12v pwr....

Sounds like you have cut into the wiring harness.  If you HAVE NOT, then get the proper adapter and the job is relatively easy.  If you did cut off the factory connector, that was a bad move, but the job can still be completed if you can get the factory wiring diagram.  Check at a Ford dealer.  As to why your dash lights are out, it may indeed be because the stereo is removed, or you have blown a fuse.
