Hey does anyone remember the old school way of bypassing the passlock anti-theft in GM. this has nothing to do with a remote start install, or an alarm install...a buddy of mine has a 99 chevy malibu...( AND NO IT'S NOT THE ONE I INSTALLED IN 2 years ago!) and all of a sudden his Theft System light started coming on yesterday, and it won't read his key. the local dealership gave him the resistance of the key switch, but I can't remember what wires I need to cut and place it inline with.

here's the weird thing....Everyone tells me it's Passlock 2, but the wires match passlock 1. White, Black, Yellow...not black and orange..just black, white, yellow. this car is a POS

DUH!! I'm freaking tired and being stupid. I ignore the white wire. now, all I need to do is go to radio shack and get the resistor he needs. and good-bye passlock. here's a quick question. How many other people in the world believe that Vehicular Immobilizers and Factory Anti-Theft Systems ( or F.A.T.S. after all it makes the manufacturers and dealerships pockets fatter ) are a complete waste of time and are just another way for Corporate Tycoons to make money?
I actually heard one time that the manufacturers managed to convince Police and Insurance Companies that any vehicle with F.A.T.S. was unstealable? Which is why some insurance companies will not honor or reimburse you if your car was stolen and it had a bypass in the F.A.T.S. Ummmm...I've seen more cars stolen with a F.A.T.S. than I have with aftermarket alarms. Co-incidence?
And apparently my buddy is not the only person that has had problems with the Passlock 2 interface. I guess anything from the BCU, to the magnets in the ignition switch themselves can go out. So it costs anywhere from $150 to like $500+ to fix. Don't know about you guys...but I'll just by-pass that contraption for good!
Well thanks for the help.
