Well X is standard in the clifford matrix 3.5, but eventually the annoying chirp lowered in volume.  Next thing I knew, I changed the battery and it wasn't recognizing, and then it ate batteries up in 2 days or less.  I received the viper remote today, same functions, jus no carbon fiber look.  To  me its all the same, same type of module, all compatible to save money, just different look for those who want somethin different whether u get the python, clifford or viper one.  Same 15 channels, background car pic, features, just costs different which it shouldn't.  I just chose the viper one kuz the one I owned was the x and I had the defect, trial and error if the viper does it I'll buy the python one, and then after that I'll complain to dei lol.  Thanx for the help, I'll keep u posted if anything comes up

as i mentioned before all of the 479 remotes are cross compatible, just as the 478 remotes were... the only reason they badge them differently is so that they can have 3 different dealers ( or more)  in the same market selling essentially the same product... in one city dealer A may sell Clifford, dealer B may sell Viper and dealer C may sell Python, but it's the exact same product, the only difference in the owners manuals and install manuals is the name on the cover

Is it really so common for people to have problems with the remote? i just installed mine about 2 weeks ago. Should i be expecting to pick up another one?

I doubt it, I think it was my battery because when I removed it it had dry stains on it as if the battery leaked.  I mean u could drop it, and it might just land wrong or water damage if u have it in ur pocket all the time, happened to me once wit a pager.  Pants pockets believe it or not are filled with humidity, u may be hot and not realize sweat has slightly wet ur pockets.  But Ive done searches and haven't seen a sure answer for defects, other people said so but I haven't so I wouldn't worry.  Im goin to buy another one just for the sake of emergency back up.

alright. Doesn't clifford have a led one that works the same?

led remote that looks similar, but without the screen, with colored led indicating doors/hood/trunk/shock
