Hey guys, this is my first post on this board.
I'm new to this board, but not new to enclosure building I looked up the DVD's you guy's where discussing they look pretty good to me, I started box building late in 1991 and have been building off and on since, I was in the army up until 1999, so you can figure that it was kind of a hobby for me, I had some of the first N.A.M.E videos they put out from 1992 and there software.
A note about the software the most basic program that you can get will be one that works in DOS only, and the newer programs have graphics and spread sheets and work with windows or what ever your system is, but the bottom line is that no matter what the new program claims they both give you the same numbers, the math stays the the same no matter what! So most new programs just have alot more visuals and don't do anything more than the simple programs, so don't think $150.00 box program is better than the $50.00 box program, it took me about $400.00+ to figure that out.
Most of any dvd/video I've seen only gives you basic principles, and alot of the details are left out and not explained, so if your a beginner you may be lost or at a stand still at some points in the dvd/videos, what HottAccord says about the dvd's, is what most dvd/videos do you as far as instructions you know certain thing have to be done to complete the enclosure like the speaker cutout has to be cut at some point, they just may not specify when to do it sometimes because that's a given thing you have to do. As far as the quality of the dvd/videos, that's a loaded question what's the standard that you would judge them at, the guys making the dvd/video probably ain't trying to be hollywood cameramen!
I know you guys know that David "Fishman" Rivera has dvd/video's and he says in them, if you can't do what he shows you in his dvd/videos, after watching them you don't need to be messing with cars. If you know someone that works at a high end shop and has there MECP Certificate they should be able to get the Fishman dvd/Video's for you.
There's so much more information now, then there was when I started, and it's all for sale for anyone to buy, you had to go to a installers institute like the ones in Florida to learn the secrets and techniques the pros used before they had the dvd/videos, and classes where alot more than these dvd/videos cost, most classes back then were $1800.00+ for the basic stuff, plus you had to get your ass down to Florida? So I don't see how anyone can think that the dvd/video's you guys are talking about is a high price, dvd/video's don't give you the hands on trianing like a class does, but as long as you eyes and brain still work you should be able to figure out most of the dvd/video's concept, think creative!
I would recommend the DVD's and I haven't even seen any of them yet, the guys that are at the shops had to pay some way to learn the techniques, be it going to classes at a institute $$$$$$, buying the dvd $$, or they developed there own techniques from trial and error $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and they teach classes, ask them how they did something and they will tell you, information is not free, go to training because, you have pay to play.
Here's some links for some Videos if you guys hadn't noticed that CARAUDIOHELP is a member of this site and posted some info in this post, I guess he's just being humble by not saying he sells what being discussed and if you click on his sig you'll see.
AUEX, only being able to contact the person buy email is the way that person chooses to do there business it's not shady, think about what there selling a dvd/video tape, what can they tell you about the dvd/videos on the phone that's not already been advertised? You can buy Xbox and Playstation games without testing them first, those games will not make you your money back you paid for them, but I bet you can make some money from what you learn from the dvd from GLASSWORKZDVD. I can tell you that the person's name behind the GLASSWORKZDVD is Dustin.
