You cant just base your desison on what will be the Loudest Sub. You have to take into account the box used and the power avalible. I have always been a firm believer in that you can use cheap subs in the right box with enough power and stick it to people in competion. I used 4 pioneer 305dvc subs, I think they retail for about 120 bucks canadian a piece, off my Orion HCCA 425 amp in a box that is ported and 2.2 cubic feet per sub. With this set up I beat a set of Power series RF 12's running off 4 bd 500.1s strapped in pairs, I beat a 15 inch Juggernaut running off a a set of BD 1001.1's (big rf town around here) and for all you JL fans I also put down a set of JL W7's each running off a jl500/1. You have to look at the whole picture when trying to decide on a system.Box design and provided power are just as if not more imporant than the drivers you choose.

I know I can fit 2 12'' in there it is just the size of the magnent that worries me also those pioneer spl 12'' are right in my price range  the rf are a lil more costly but it seems like the performance of the two is not that diffrent

i heard those new pioneer spl 2000's , 2 12's last week, ,they just werent as impressive as i thought they would be, , especially since they were fed 1000wrms each.  But then again, ,you can only get so loud with 2 12's haha, ,worth the money tho.

Treo subs have the world record of 177.6db, except it took 16 12's to get that loud.  Treo claims the CSX series subs can handle as much power as any normal amp can give them. www.treoonline.com if you want to look at them. I have never personally heard them but they are suppost to be some of the best.

Digital Designs makes an outstanding woofer.  Also pioneer doesnt hold the world record DD does.  Their website is www.ddaudio.com .  I belive the sub you are lookink for is their 9900 series.  It has quad voice coils and ca handle an enormous amount of power.

This is exactly right. You are putting too much into the woofer alone. We call them sound "systems" for a reason.

Thats right but if you dont have the right setup your system will be worthless.  If you buy a 100 dollar sub thats all your going to get out of it .  Its true ive seen it with my own eyes.  Yes, i know that box size and porting is a big issue but if you have a sub that is no good you'll come to find that it was a big waste of your time.

....its all in the enclosure kids.  You can dump thousands into subs and amp. But if you put it in a sh*tty box...its going to be just that..sh*tTY.

If you can master the math to make a true transmission line box- and have the room. Then one sub maybe all you need.  I made two 8's sound louder than my two 12's i had in there..and i got better SQ.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

"World Records" are bullsh*t. Everybody claims to hold a world record and most of them are true in some sense. They simply change the paremeters of the class to meet their needs. For what its worth I believe the Gates Bronco with 44 10" L7 gates series subs did break 178 but I cannot remember for sure. Either way I see different records all the time. I know that records are constantly being broke and then redefined what seems like every week. I know that the loudest one sub car in canada and the loudest two sub car in canada were both running MTX RFL subs but that was at the begining of the season and could have very well changed by now. Also its hard to define the record when its almost always a different mic that tests the systems because the records are very rarley set at the same event as what the previous records holder competed in. Also with people spiking the mic inputs on the vehicles and are able to come up with new ways of cheating every week, those guys on top are not a good thing to go by. I know that the Digital Design subs are very good for spl, I know that the 9500 is also a great spl sub, the pioneer spl subs are probally the best subs for spl at that dollar range and the Juggernaught and the Stroker are always classic competitors. Basicaly you dont need the best sub in the world to win spl, you need the best sombination of amp, sub and box to win. If you miss anyone of these points you will not win in serious competions but on the same note you do not need the BEST of everything, just pretty good.
